2 Sumps & 2 Pumps on One Tank?

I have a main tank that has a 1.5" drain to the sump with a return pump. Can i put a tee on that 1.5" drain pipe, and run another smaller drain pipe with an inline valve into a second separate sump, with its own return pump going to the display as well? Or will this cause issues?

Nope..
No way to ensure consistent flow rate to each tank.. Water could drain into one faster than the return pumps it out..

you could have the drain tee into two sumps, one higher than the other, with the high sump draining into the low one. but instead of this you should probably just have it all drain straight into the high one and then that can drain into the low one. the return chamber of the low sump is where you put your ATO float switches.

I used to have a very similar setup. When I finally figured out that the two sumps needed to be connected (for equalization), it followed that I could use one larger pump and save on electricity. Still have a similar setup with a large pump running a 40gal sump teed off with a 40gal fuge. Has the equalization tube just behind the Tee and all is good

You can still use two pumps if you like..........
