2 Wire Gateways

I have AT&T Uverse, which uses the 2 Wire gateway for wireless internet access, and was wondering if anyone is using the apex wirelessly bridged to a 2 Wire gateway without any problems?

2 wire

2 wire

hey i'll tag along on this as i'm having the same issue can you reach your apex from the internet outside your house?

I also have the option of using Ethernet cable. I had my previous controller wired directly to the router, but this time around I thought about trying it wirelessly. I'm really curious if anyone is using the 2 Wire router/gateway setup on the apex like I plan to....

Hey buddy, i actually have mine on a gaming adapter and locally it works fast. Its very nice indeed, but the minute i try to open a port on the 2wire gateway(might have a diff model) the port does not open. I am getting ready to try and forward all connection request to my other router using DMZ, and then change the ports on there, but who knows if this will work either.

I created a port for the APEX since i think ATT blocks port 80, and created my own port 9622 so theoretically my address would be something like http://Ip that att gives my apex:9622. But it does not work, i then tried going to whats my ip. something(lol forgot sorry) and checked the port i opened(added to the firewall settings in the 2wire modem/router) but it kept saying that is closed.

I am pretty frustrated with it myself, if you figure it out let me know man :) if i get it working i will let you know exactly what i did :), even bought the android app but cant get it sync up right now :( boo lol.

CT C firgured it out if you still need the help....

Connect your Router(I have a Netgear) to the 2wire modem/router.
log into 2wire router and find IP given to your router, write it down, go to firewall settings and turn on DMZ for your router(make sure you have a very strong password for your router!) this will allow all traffic sent to the IP through the 2wire gateway and into the router.
log into your Netgear router, and go to its lan settings: set the IP to static, add the ip your 2wire gateway assigned to your router, ofcourse you will need the gateway, dns, and netmask.
now setup your gaming adapter and have it connect straight to your router(not the 2wire gateway)once this is complete and you have connectivity to the internet plug it into the APEX.
set your APEX to DHCP:on, reset the APEX.......... your APEX should now have an IP assigned from the router, now change it to DHCP:off(on the apex).
log back into your router(not the 2wire), and setup port forwarding for your APEX. give it a diff. port since 80 is def blocked from ATT. You should also remember what IP your APEX has since you will probably need to enter it at this time(setting up port forwarding).
ALMOST DONE!!!
Now in order to actually log into the APEX you will be using the Routers IP address:port, the port is what will send the traffic to your APEX.

So I set mine up this way......

Port forwading screen:
name: APEX
Port: 9622
IP(local for the apex):.......
TCP
-SAVE-

TEST IT!!! get on your phone if you have android download the app, and add the IP:
http://yourip:port

I hope this helps :)

is this process only neccessary if I plan on using a gaming adapter or wireless setup?
I really plan on hard wiring the apex to my 2 Wire router/gateway since i already have the ethernet cable installed from when I was using my RKE w/Net module.

ahhh i see... in this case, it would see that it would be simple enough by just adding a port to your firewall settings(2wire gateway) and assigning the applicationt o your APEX ip. then all you would need to do is type in the IP given to your APEX(make sure its static so that it does not change) plus the port you assigned for it to forward to it.

If this does nto work you could also try DMZ mode just to see if it works, since my APEX 1 floor below the router, it was kind of hard to run CAT5..... but i imagine it might work for you without needing to do the DMZ mode thing.

let me know if any of this works, if the 2wire does not want to open up the port(it didnt want to open ports for me for whatever reason) for ya and you end up using a gaming adapter then the above post should work just fine.

hope you can get it running.

A hardwire connection is by far the best way to go if you can, especially with a 2wire. They can be really flaky when used with a wireless gaming adapter. YMMV.
