20 gl mini reef protien skimmer?

hi guys,i set up a 20 gl mini reef about 1 month ago,i am succesfully growing lps corals and a rose bubble tip, i have very nice gulf liverock,the star corals came back and are thriving,i want to know what is the down side right now to not running a protien skimmer,i was a die hard fan in the past of using the hsa mtc 250 in sump skimmer,i do not have a sump on this setup,im running a rena filstar xp3, my phosphates are 0 ppm im using blue life rx phosphate control.my no3 is o ppm,will i be able to succesfully run this setup without a skimmer,my bio load only consists of 2 black and white occelaris clowns.i do have a slick of protiens on top of the h20.thanks for your input.

For the slick protein on top have a power head aim to the top of the water for better circulation. Aqua Euro makes a nice nano skimmer so does Aqua Medic and Hydor.

I would not use a skimmer on this size tank. With regular WCs you'll be fine.
