20g sum for 75g tank?

I got a 75 gallon tank and the stand will not hold a 40 breeder without tearing it apart and redoing it. i am not sure i can take on that task. So with that being said is a 20 gallon long going to be enough for my 75? I know i am losing a lot of water volume but my skimmers pump is internal so its foot print is small. I would do it in three sections, protein skimmer part, refug, and then return area. I am just wondering your thoughts on a 75g with 20g sump. Thanks

4:1 ratio of DT to sump is good, as long as you can fit everything you need in a 20L you should be good, and on the plus side it leaves more room in your stand for other stuff.

Not sure if a 20 will have enough room for drainback from the 75DT when the power /pump is off. Some carefull calculating will be needed to be fairly certain.

I really want to use the 40 breeder but the stand does not have the room. Maybe i will look around for 1 per gallon sales. What do you think of a 30g breeder?

You should be fine with the 20 gallon sump IMO. I used a 10 gallon tank as a sump on a 60 gallon breeder one time and everything was fine. I didn't have a refugium or any baffles in the sump, (which I didn't really want in the first place) but there was plenty of room for a return pump, heater and a skimmer. The only thing I had to make sure of was that the return nozzle wasn't too far under the water in the DT. That way if the power did go out the sump wouldn't overflow.

How are you breaking the glass? If you need baffles you could to a local glass company and have them cut the baffles the size you need.

Actually i got a 20 long tank and i think i might just try one of those kits that are premade for your tank and you just silicone them in. Anyone done that?
