Hey guys,
I just finished setting up my 20 gallon tank. It has a purple long tentacled anemone, hammer coral, green polyps, red mushrooms, cleaner shrimp, 2 false perc clownfish. I've taken some lfs advice mixed with stuff I have learned from here on the care of the various corals. They told me the hammer coral is infact a filter feeder and does not utilize photosynthesis. The polyps are supposed to be the opposite and only require light to survive. Is that correct (ive read otherwise on the hammer)? The anemone went in this afternoon and has since unballed himself and moved around slightly. Do the anemones ever open entirely flat (meaning you cant see their foot/bottom..just tentacles)? He is lying on the sand poking out between the rocks. The fish man said that feeding is only necessary maybe 3 times a year. I've heard people feeding them once a week. Currently, the only food I have at the house is frozen reef formula. Will that be ok for the anemone? The fish guy suggested shrimp from the grocery store, but I have read silversides would be good. Finally, the clownfish are omnivourous so I thought the reef formula would work for them, but once again the fish man suggested pellet food instead.
Right now the clownfish are swimming against the glass and dont seem to care about anything but their reflection, hopefully that will change. I've seen tank pics where the density of coral was much greater than what I have at the moment. I dont understand how people cram them in that tight. Anyway, here's a pic.

By the way, is it normal for the corals to rectract up and look pretty pathetic at night? They have been doing it the past few days and still opening all majestic like during the day..but in the evenings it concerns me.
