I purchased a 240 from Glasscages.com

I've been busy getting things together. I built my own stand and hood.

After I got the tank on the stand I started the plumbing with a OM-4way and a OM-2way. I also used 2 OM revolutions for the returns.

I installed all new electronic IceCap ballasts. 400w 14000K

Last weekend I picked up 110 of uncured rock from Dr Mac. Here's a few pics

This is my DIY skimmer I've been using for a couple years now. So far it's been doing great. After I first set it up I had a few overflows and I built the waste bottle that has a float switch that turns off the skimmer pump and ozone when it's full. No more messes.

All I can do now is wait for the rock to cure. That's the hard part...

Wow nice set up. What size tank did you have before? Because you just jumped to most reefers dream tank. What are the dimensins of the 240? Their site lists a couple different sizes
72 x 24 x 31 Tall = 232g
60 x 36 x 25 Tall = 234g
72 x 30 x 25 Tall = 234g
48 x 48 x 25 Tall = 249g
96 x 18 x 31 Tall = 232g

I found the large tank thread you started without us.
Angelo new 240 RR. Ya baby!
Anyway you listed the size there as 72"x30"x25"
I finally get to post in this forum. I just ordered a 240 RR custom glass aquarium from glasscages.com and I'm concerned of my choices. I ordered a 72 x 30 x 25. (1) overflow on (1) end only for 3 sided view. (1) 1.5" drain and (2) 1" returns in the overflow. Also I wanted a closed loop added, so I told them to place them as follows: (1) 1" return at base of overflow center of bottom, (1) 1" at the other end of the tank also center of bottom, and (1) 1" for the drain middle of the tank also center of the bottom glass. I'm looking for ideas before they cut the glass so any comments are welcome.
Angelo

Do you have any build pictures of the skimmer? It looks great. Figure we could make it a club project to build a skimmer in the future.

Oh wow, I just realized the tank I got is not a 210 its a 220. It is 72"x24"x30"= 224g

Sweet looking tank. Can't wait to see more photos when it is all set up. Nice stand and hood as well. What sort of sump do you plan on using or are you just going to connect filters with plumbing and just have the majority of the water in the display.

Al, thanks for the compliments and yes I did start out in the Large Tank forum. I should have started here with my fellow DRC members. It's been a long work in progress with a few bumps along the way but when it's done I'm sure it'll be worth it. And Gordonious I have a couple of sump pics for you here. Thanks to all.

This is my 100gal sump that's in the unfinished part of my basement. The lines are run through the wall into the family room.

I have a few more pictures here showing the 2" inlet for the closed loop.

This one show the 2" inlet on the one end with 2 of the 1" returns for the closed loop. The one bulkhead in the middle is a 1" inlet also for the closed loop.

I was having problems with the sand getting kicked up due to the high volume of water movement with the closed loop. This caused the OM-4way to stop rotating so I added a 6" extention onto the returns. No more flying sand.

I got the moon light strip from Ebay, so far it looks pretty cool.

I was having a problem with my DIY calcium reactor kicking up the substrate and jamming up the circulating pump. So I added a bulkhead screen and so far no problems. I also installed a PH probe directly into the reactor to control the co2, works great.

I almost forgot heres one of the OM revoluton.

I'll keep looking for more pictures of the build and taking some new ones as things change.

Great looking set-up! I'm thinking about using the OM 4-way or a Super Squirt on my new 65 gallon build. I'm also liking the Revolution heads but I think I may just drill the tank for the returns and use Loc-Line. Not sure yet though.

it helps some what im going to use your plans kinda for a stand and was wondering about the doors however i do not have the tools to make doors likke you have there
