Hi all, I have a 240 G acrylic ( 3/4") cube ( 48x48x24) on order and need a stand build plan, recommendations on flow ( will be sps mainly) tank. the overflow will be in the dead center of the tank and have 2 - 1 1/2" drains and 2- 1" returns, so I also need recommendations on return pump.

I dont know if I will use a protein skimmer as I think a algea scrubber is a better choice, please help with flow and stand suggestions.

I like my MP60s, esp. paired with a reeflink. Although if I were you I would try to mount my powerheads on the center overflow and keep all four sides viewable. You could look into some sea swirls attached to the return lines. I went with a reeflo dart for returns although I seriously considered some of the new DC pumps, in the end I saved some money and went with the proven pumps. I would go with a steel stand if you can afford it or look up RocketEngineer's thread for building stands, easy and safe.

Same footprint as my tank. I thought about center overflow but decided against it. I was too hard to figure pump placement and rockwork as well for me. I love the footprint though it rocks!!!! If your gonna use center overflow, seriously consider the Tunze pumps because you can attach them with no special modifications to the overflow box. The magnets are waterproof, that is the route I was going to go it I did it.. Maybe 4 of them, one in each direction and since you don't need to push the water too far yiu could really use like the 6095 or something with a wide flow. For the return I use a goby good and feed a manifold and you could tune run the returns right up the overflow box. A little locline and your set!!
Check out my thread for any ideas....

I had a very nice looking 48" cube with a single center overflow box, I just had a sea swirl on each back corner and it covered the entire tank just right!!!

I am looking at this same dimensions, I want the center overflow to place it in the center of a room. I like the idea of square but sometimes it can diffucult the tunze idea sounds like a winner IMO.

There is a thread about the grye, those guys seem to think 1 will work in your tank size. I am not sure about it, but pop in and check out the thread. They say the grye will replace 2 MP40's

His is why I went with vortech, because I had Tunze before and live them. I wanted no cords in the tank since its viewable by 3 sides.

Man do I know. It was a no brainier for me being eurobraced almost rimless. But KMU's tank was an inspiration to me. It was sweet.

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On PB to the right there's a list of URLs for the image. Choose "Direct". It will say "Copied". On RC in the Editor, select the yellow icon with the mountain on it. Paste the URL in there. Press Enter and you're done.
