250W MH To 400W MH

but figured I would get everyone's comments in this forum.

I am thinking about changing my MH to 400W 15k to get more color from my sps. currently I am running 250W 10k XM.

I was trying to get comments from people who have made that change and how it worked out.

My friend did, it worked out.

It's a lot more juice on the electric bill, and a lot more heat to deal with. 10,000K --> 15,000K is also a big change in color temp. There is a lot more light however, and you will notice a change in your corals. "Worth it" is hard to quantify.

Are you thinking the XM 15k? This bulb is pretty disappointing on PAR. There are better 400w bulb options out there IMO... but some people like them.

For now I am going to stay with the 250's. If/when I switch I would not go with the xm 15k's.
