Has anybody tried this bulb with zoanthids? I was thinking about running dual 250's with no actinic's over a 72 bow-zoanthid-dominated-tank.

I heard it looks similar to a radium running on a hqi ballast, no numbers though.

similar to radium? no way! not even close! i just hooked up a new 250w radium on a PFO HQI ballast last night. I LOVE IT!! good bye iwasaki!! :D

i know a bunch of people running this bulb, mainly for sps purposes. it really makes blue's *pop* on sps. absolutely amazing, never seen another bulb do that like the reeflux 12k SE does. i've seen some softies under it too, they look pretty good. but its a BRIGHT bulb, no doubt about that. ive seen some evidence of bleaching when moving sps from 20k's to the 12 reeflux.

but i guess as far as color of the reeflux goes, like all bulbs it seems to differ quite a bit depending on the ballast run. i think the ones i've seen were all run on icecap ballasts.

PS...I may be thinking about the 10k reeflux, not really sure now that I think about it.

I havent' seen a 250w radium so i can't compare it to the 12k reeflux. like al said, a lot depends on the ballast, but I can say the 12k is pretty blue. If you have electronic ballasts, i say go wiht it.
