280 gallon tank... Acrylic or Starfire glass?

What should I choose?

Can a tank this large be made out of glass safely?
I'm afraid of getting acrylic because I tend to scratch things.

Any tips would be great.

Also, who should I get to make it?

Glass Cages make very resonable tanks. Low iron available. They are making a delivery this month to the West coast and up into the Northwest. I saved $2,000 on a 250 tamk with a 100 gal acrylic sump. You would have to order very soon to get on the truck.

I love my glass tank (220). But I'm on the East Coast - West Coast I would go with Acrylic because of the quakes!

375 Starfire from Aquarium Obsessed. Great tank. Get oversized overflows or external along the back if going with closed loop. Very difficult access inside internal overflows.

Not AO, but a guy out of Miami that's been building tanks for 40 years.

External along the entire back, like jnarowes, with 4 x 1 1/2" drains. No closed loop. I was going to go that route, but decided not to. Modded mj's or vortechs. Working on the KISS principal and trying to make this as uncomplicated as possible

I'm waiting on the parts for the mj's to see how they do on my 120.

I've asked the builder to send me photos of the building process. Once I get those, I'll start a new thread of the whole process.

BTW, love your tag line! Not particularly a gun guy, but I so enjoy ticking off libs. Got my Club G'itmo shirt on as we speak!

300g starfire

300g starfire

I am putting together pics of equipment and installation of a 300g starfire glass tank front and sides starfire back and bottom tempered. It will have a center trap overflow box and a closed loop with a Hayward valve. All equipment will be outside in a custom pump room. I will start posting this week as its being installed.
