Hi all!!
Been away from reefing for a while. I had a 90 gallon mixed reef for about 5 years but got out of the hobby. Now, I'm getting back involved, but don't want to set the 90 back up. Instead, I would like to take an empty 29 I've had laying around and try my hand at a Sumpless sps setup. I know going sumpless isn't the best idea but I have seen some amazing tanks that are very simply setup.
My question today comes to the equipment that I'm looking at. The tank is a standard 29 gallon tank. The equipment I'm considering is as follows: Aquaclear 110 power filter modded for small fuge for macro algae and a place to put GFO and Carbon, a Bubble Magus NAC5e HOB skimmer, the 27.5" Maxspect Razor LED lighting system, and MP10 power heads. Substrate is still debate able. Torn between BB for ease of care and a shallow sand bed for aesthetics.
Anyone keeping sps and clams in a simple setup please feel free to chime in and give me your input. Any photos and filter specs are greatly appreciated. I know the Maxspect light is still fairly new, so I'm having a hard time finding info on how well sps grow and color up under it.
