I feel as though Im beginning to learn the basics of the hobby, although there are many areas in which I still feel very unfamiliar with. I just joined this forum last week and I am gleaning tons of info from this site already.

I the last 2 months or so I seem to be having a slight cyano break out on my rocks and sand. Its a red velvet type stuff that grows pretty quick, yet never gets out of hand.
As for my sand bed I figure its best to just rake it and churn part of the sand up during water changes?

My parameters are as follows.
Temp-78
Salinit0 1.025
Ph- 8.2
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-5-10ppm
Phos-0 (I think, hard to differentiate colors on scale sometimes)
Mag-1200ppm (in process of raising 100ppm)
Dkh- 7 (trying to raise this by adding Instant Ocean sea buffer)

My tank consisits of various LPS including frogspawn, hammer and torch.
Ricordeas, mushrooms, GSP, kenya Tree, Duncan, Dendro, 2 acans, xenia and zoa's.
Livestock: ORA Percula clown, green clown goby, 2 ORA neon gobies, skunk cleaner shrimp, 2 pom pom crabs, emerald crab and various snails and a handful of tiny hermits.

Looking to trade my clown back in and get a blue spotted jawfish instead.
