2nd tank cycling questions....

I started up a 10 gallon tank. I filled it with about 80% of already established water from my 45 gallon and used about 20% of fresh salt water. For sand I added 20lbs of Arag-Alive Indo-Pacific Black Sand. I am waiting for the water to clear up. I was reading the back of the LS bag and it states that invertebrates can be added immediately. Is this true? If not, is it possible for me to able to add them once the water clears up since I mainly used established salt water from my reef tank?

Other questions................

Can I add the established (from my reef tank) LR into the system now or should I wait till it clears?

I'm using a penguin 200b for filtration on my 10 gallon tank. I don't plan on using the bio-wheel but is it best to use it now while in the beginning of cycling this tank?

Right now I only have the powerfilter running on the tank. Will a powerhead help clear up the water? Or should I let it settle?

I just use a cheap mechanical filter w/ a poly pad in it. I tried the powerhead method in a similar scenario and it didn't work at all.

As far as I know, you should move the LR into the tank and use the Biowheel right away in order to "jumpstart" the cycle.

The tank is clear.....I moved the sand around a little since there was a light blackish/grey dust on some parts, so I'll post pics later.

Well, what I really meant was is my tank cycling even though I used established water and about 15lbs of LR (just put in) from my currently running tank? Only real difference is the addition of the Arag-Alive Indo-Pacific Black Sand.

My experience is this:

Set up 120 gal tank with "110 gallons of cycled water, brand new 3" sandbed, and only 30lbs of LR. Tossed in grouper, 2 eels, 2 triggers, right away. Didn't experience any sort of "cycling." (pretty similar situation to yours) Fish have been doin' great (been a month now), and no problems to speak of (knock on wood).

Cool, I won't be adding anything for a couple days but might be adding something by the weekend .:D
