30 gallon frag tank advice

I have a 30 gallon glass tank I would like to use for my 1st attempt at a frag tank. I don't want to drill drainage holes or have a sump and was wondering if this setup would work:

T5 or LED lights
Tune 9004 in tank skimmer
Heater
Marine Pure ceramic biomedia plates on the bottom of the tank. (I was thinking about maybe drilling plug holes on the plate for frag plugs and building a frag rack above the plates)
Auto-top off

I'm thinking I'll start off with fragging bounce mushrooms, zoos/palys, birds nest sps (if things go well). As for livestock maybe some cleanup crew such as a lawnmower blenny, yellow coris or six line wrasse, shrimp/hermits. I don't plan on using any live rock.

Good idea/bad idea?

Thanks!

That's what I have in my permanent coral QT. works out perfect. I use the biggest block of marine pure. keeps nitrate nearly undetectable.

I suggest adding a doser and powerhead.

I also dose a lot more acropower in the QT with great results. corals open more. I only feed twice a week so nutrient is probably low, so I find supplements more necessary

as long as you don't touch it, it will retain it's shape.

I accidentally broke off a corner when I took it out of the sump. Then snails and flow smoothed everything down..
