300 gallon suggestion!

So I am starting a 300 gallon build and am trying to figure out where to put 2 holes for my easy water changes. I want to simply turn a knob and empty 50 gallons and then return the 50 new gallons into the tank. Should I put the holes right next to each other or on opposite sides of the tank? Thanks!

i would just oversize your drain line and tee off that in order to drain the water. open and close it with a valve, i like ball valves for this application. i would drain the new water via gravity (again with a ball valve) into the sump as it is lower then the DT and easier to drain into. this way you drain no holes and it is much simpler, you just need some pvc,valves,and a sump.

I would completely scratch that idea all together. I did that on one of my tanks and never used it, you really should use a syphon hose so you can get as much detrititus out as possible during each water change otherwise your not really cleaning the tank.
