hi eveyone i'm new here, and recently purchased a 96X24X30 acrylic aquarium. I have been to the garf site and was wondering if anyone else here has used this method to do a diy stand for a tank this large? I would like a better step by step method then provided on that site. can anyone help me with better instructions on how to build this stand? thx.

the place is called Garf.org i believe and there is a diy section to get dimensions of wood for a stand. anyone seen this place before? it was recomended to me by a local

We built our stand out of 2 x 6. I have a 96 x36 x 24. Ours is an in-wall display and I didn't need to have an enclosed stand however, to build it the way we did and then cover it with whatever wood work you want including cabinet doors. If you would like pics LMK.

i dont know how or anyone who would be able to build a metal stand, so thats why i'm going with a diy wood one.

i think i should be ok if i build mine with Lots of 2X4s, i think using 2X6's in my situation would be overkill. hope i'm not wrong.

Figure that your stand will need to support a good 3000 lbs of weight or more. I would use 4x4 posts for the legs and 2 x 6 for the top square frame (maybe 2 x 4 stringers would be OK.) JMHO.
