New to the group, wanted to share my newest and final reef tank build. Have been in the hobby for about 10 years and just moved into a new house. Due to the move I have been tankless for about a year, finally decided it was time for one last tank.
I had the tank built in 3/4 acrylic by Midwest Custom Aquariums and so far it seems them did a great job. The tank is 60x48x26 and comes to 325 gallons. It has 3 external overflows, 6 return ports drilled into the euro bracing, has a drain hole drilled into the back for easy water changes, and the back acrylic is covered in dark blue.
The metal stand was fabricated by a local welder and then finished by me.
The light canopy was built by me and currently houses 2 - 48" T5HO fixtures, there will also be 2 Radion Gen3 Pro fixtures installed once coral starts going into the tank, this will be my first time running a combination of LED and T5
I went with a Trigger Systems Emerald Series 39 sump that has a capacity of 40 gallons and could handle the 3 drain lines
The skimmer is a NYOS Quantum 220 - Reef Octopus BioPellet Reactor - BRS dual GFO / Carbon Reactor - 2 Gyre's for water movement - Apex Control system - Innovative Marine ATO -
200 lbs of Black live sand
200 lbs of dead rock
After displacement the system ended up holding 295 gallons total
Also set up a water filtration station in the garage for RO/DI water and mixing Saltwater
