3mm glass

Hey guys - building question.

I am trying to find 6mm glass but keep coming up short, and my local hardware store has oodles of 1/8" stock up to 36x36.

I have the option to put a tank on my desk at work and I am thinking 36 long, 10-12" wide, 8-10" high, and certainly 1 center brace, possibly 2 (if 1, 10" wide; if 2, probably 4" wide each).

The question is, will 1/8" glass work?

I'm happy to take building tips as I have plenty of DIY experience otherwise but have never built a tank. And I plan to thoroughly test it for leaks, etc before taking it in to work.

if you need something to put in your picture frame..
Go to a glass shop..
Back in the day we used to have this thing called a phone book. I think they are gone now
So just ask Siri for a glass shop in your area. :spin1:

1/8" would be find as long as the tank didn't extend past 10-12" length or 10-12" high. I had a frag tank bust on me trying to use 1/8"

Best bet is to hit up a glass shop, but its usually not very cheap.

Id be affraid something would hit that 1/8 inch and be a mess. Glass is pretty fragile at that size. Why not acrylic?
