Hey all I am new to a hobbie. I have fresh water tank however always wanted to have saltwater so here I am

build the stand and the sump not perfect I know but I am learning

. Ok so skimmer is SC 301,light is MarsAqua China box 1 for start, I am drilling g tank tomorow for 1200 gph overflow and return 565 gph pump, installing ball valves on both, Koralia X2 800 gph WaveMaker RODI buddy by Aqua something I forget have 40 lb dry rock and 60 lb of IO live sand for DT and deep fuge bed...

I know you guys don't approve of this but I have Walmart purple cap RO distilled water only measured 2-3 ppm on the meter. .. so please give me pointers in any way yell male funn of me anything I do t care I just want to learn and make it success tank. Now I know it's lots of DIY but the money just isn't here atm for reall nice setup plus I need to learn on this one so I can move up to the bigger and better one .. again thank you for your time and help

Looks like you're off to a good start! That's a lot of bottled water LOL. It's better than tap water though so I think you're ok. You might check if your LFS sells RO by the gallon - many do.

I have a MARS aqua and it puts out a lot of light. 40 gallon is a great size for the tank and it's great that you're going to drill it and have a sump.

What type of corals/livestock are you thinking about?
 
Purchase some 5 gallon jugs from your lfs with saltwater, makes it easier. Unless you want to mix your own. Welcome to the club/hobby :beer:
 
well i wish i could tell you what i want but i cant thats how green i am in this matter but am willing to learn from you guys. i will cycle the tank good while for start and than not sure if i am doing this in correct order but i am thinking maybe pair of clowns for my daughter and perhaps good solid cleanup crew....as for corals ... man i think i am solid 4-5 months away on that decision but i will most likely aks in here whats appropriate to start the reef with.... baby steps ... one at the time
