40 gallon hex

Got a 40 gallon hex today from a friend that was "tired of messing with fish" and I am trying to figure out what would be a good setup for it? Its just the tank, stand and canopy. It was a fresh water setup and I considered Cichlids, I used to have an awesome 110 cichlid tank, never a dull moment. But I am not sure. Now that I have a couple of SW tanks, I am "hooked" on salt. lol I have quite a few coral and fish in my bowfront and was considering making the 40g a coral only tank or possibly anenome only with a clown or two? Thoughts?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh THAT would be awesome but everything I have read says they are for VERY experienced aquarists, and THAT I am not ! :) I am learning tho :) A seahorse tank would kick butt.....

I will try tanked raised sea horses soon. They are expensive but eat frozen mysis shrimps so it will be much easier than others.

It has begun................

Setup has begun. I went to see Richard and the crew at Memfish at lunch and got a canister filter and some sand- YAY ME!! I am evolving, no more HOB filters!! LOL Well, I still have an HOB on my bowfront BUT I will get that switched over soon. Decided to use the submersible 6ft blue LED strip on the Hex instead of the bowfront. I think I am also going to go with an inline heating unit. I am trying to minimize the amount of clutter hanging off the back .... :) I am going to go home and get things set up and see what the LED's look like underwater...Can't wait :) :fish2:

Thanks - Got the sand and water in it last night, will hook up the filter this evening- I have to decide on a heater type.... I will probably relocate my anenomes and juvenile dragon wrasse over this tank.... Still thinking on it - the hubs wants me to combine the 10gallon and 2 gallon inhabitants to the 40 and reduce my number of tanks down to 2 - LOL KEEP DREAMIN!!!! ;)

A little more progress :) Just need my heater, a wave maker, and more live rock.....

Yes it is and I LOVE it.. It has an integrated timer and is very low profile. The color is spectacular. I have T5 on my bowfront so I wanted to try LED on this one. I can't wait to the tank stocked. :)
