My tank has been decom'd for about 7 years. I currently have a 90G RR Oceanic. And would like to use an existing 40G tall for a sump. I have looked over the threads and have a general idea, and have looked here http://gmacreef.com/reef-aquarium-sump-tank-design/
I do not need a fuge. only going FOWLR Just need a place for equipment basically. I like the tall cause it fits nicely under the stand and it can hold extra water in case of pump stoppage.
questions...
1. Is there really no difference in the baffle setup? over-under-over vs under-over-under? Just preference? or does it help the return section?
2. How tall should the baffles be? I think the first section I will put the skimmer so I was thinking 12". then I can if needed put skimmer on stand since this is the deepest section.
2a. Second set of baffles is where I am a bit lost. how much of a gap under the baffles?
2b. I was thinking 1.5 inches between
2c. does the middle baffle in the set dictate water level in the return chamber?
3. the sump is 36" how best to divide each section. My heater is very long (jaeger heater) but the rest of the equipment is unknown at this time.
4. skimmer. what are good one's
5. return pump. recommendations on these.
