Hey,
I am thinking of starting a 30-40 gallon tank for some sps (hardy mostly), clams, softies, montis, etc. I was wondering if anyone has a thread that they had about their 30-40 or even 20 gallon tank that i can look at so i can think of ideas about my sump and display tank. Questions...

1. Could i just make a stand for the tank?

2. Where could i get acrylic or glass, and how do i cut it?

3. Where can you get the pcp parts for drainage?

4. What is a descent skimmer?

5. Could i have a refuguim as small as 7inch x 4 inch.

6. What are some lights that i could use for this tank, and where can i buy them? Im thinking of MH but....

THANKS!!

I have a 40 gal that i just started on for the 3rd time. As for a stand, you can build one, quite easily as long as you have some experience with woodworking. As for lighting, i just bought a tek light T5 setup from carolinareefs.com for about $270 with the legs, and shipping. THen got my bulbs from reefgeek.com for about $80 including shipping and tax. I will get them on monday, but have heard really good things about it.

Yes, if you have the tools and the skill. But if you want I have one with a 40 g tank and canopy I will sell for $75.00. I have cleaned up the tank since this pic but it does have some scratches.

Paragon Plastic in Santa Ana for the plastic.

3. Where can you get the pcp parts for drainage?
PVC is available at any hardware store. Bulk heads most LFS have.

4. What is a descent skimmer?
Ask 10 people and you will get 10 answers to that! ASM are good deals for the money. I hear good things about the Coral Life skimmers.

5. Could i have a refugium as small as 7inch x 4 inch.
Yes, but I doubt it would do much good on a tank that size. with the light mounted above as on most set ups. My 24G nano cube has a a 14" tall X 9"wide X 3" deep fuge, but the lights are on the 14x9 vertical surface and grows algae like crazy. So it just depends on how you set it up.

6. What are some lights that i could use for this tank, and where can i buy them? Im thinking of MH but....[/B][/QUOTE] Clams and most SPS require a lot of light, but neither are for beguinners. Everything else you mention will do well under PCs.
I have some 55 PCs for the above tank.
