just got a 450 and was wondering what size refuge i should use

there is no real rule. most people say to have as big as possible.
what size are you thingking you want or have room for?

you should post some pictures of your tank and equipment and people might be able to give you a better estimate.

(my 240 has a 20gal refugium, but i planned on a 40 but just ran out of room with my CA reactor, External pump, ect.....

oh, and there is a local guy with a 450ish tank with a 900gal external refugium. (its amazing.)

I too just got a 450g a few weeks ago. And I will have a 100gal split with half a refugium and the other half a grow out/frag section, as well as 150g sump under the 100. Both of those tanks are 6 footers.

What other equipment are you thinking of using?
