since there is just simply too much for one person to write in one post, i'll just give you a link to the sticky at the top of this forum. Read through all those links (inside this link ;) ) and that should definitely help you out as far as starting up. Then after you've read through all those, if you've got a few more specific questions, feel free to ask ;)

Hope this helps

Best advice I can give anyone....Go buy books. As many as you can, and read them all. They will answer 99% of the questions that you'll have while setting up a new tank.

I too just started a 46 BF and have learned mostly everthing form the great subscribers here at RC.

I started with 35lbs of Lalo and 22lbs of Premium Fiji from Dr. F&S. I could use about 20lbs more, but figured I would leave some room for corals that are attached to rocks. It took about 4 weeks to cycle, the Lalo was uncured...

I started out with a Magnum 350 and Prizm skimmer. I have since ordered a 30 G Refugium and an Octopus 150 skimmer.
I also am on the 5 week waiting list for a Life Reef Overflow.

I upgraded the lighting that came with the tank to the Aquanctics TX5 fixture and I am very pleased with the lighting results and overall appearance.

I am running 2 Koralia #2's for circulation and am in to week 7. I get the enjoyment of watching my clean up crew which consists of 15 various size hermits and 2 turbo snails. I had 3 Astreas but they decided to be morsals for the hermits.

I also just installed an RO system from air water and ice, 5 Stage, 75Gph, with TDS meter and float switch. They are unmatched with quality, price, and features.

All in all it has been very interesting hobby and long nights searching on the net for all the answers, heehhehee....

Just my experience, here are a few links, Good luck and keep us posted..

Check this 36" 5 bulb T5 kit out. I would recommend these 5 bulbs installed in this exact pattern.

1-Aquaz Blue Pro 39 watt
2-Aquaz Ocean Pro 39 watt
3-Aquaz Sun Pro 39 watt
4-Aquaz Blue Pro 39 watt
5-Aquaz Ocean Pro 39 watt

You have to also check this out, I put the moon controller and 2 moon lights and it is very cool at night. True months cycle of the moon. Wouldn't you rather feel at home if you were in a 9 X9 cell....
