I will sell my PFO solaris 48 inch 20k for $1,600 - Patrick of PFO says he will honor the warranty to the next owner. I do not want to ship it but will meet someone half way within 100 miles.

I am in Deerfield

I am getting rid of it because I am downsizing my set up to a smaller tank. It performed nicely.

WOW....What a price tag.
Why are you getting rid of it?
How did it perform for you?

What a great deal!
I've been drooling over the Solaris for a while now... shame it's still waaaaaay out of my price range.

(Let me know when the price drops down around $200. LOL) ;)

Sweet!!

Sweet!!

And I would buy it in an instant.... but my wife would most definitely put a pillow to my face!!...

I currently have $1000 to buy lighting for my 180. I would love to try the solaris unit, but I need their 72" setup. I have a few months of saving to get that $3300 72" setup

Nick, I am currently running 1000w 400x2 14k of metal halide and pc's true actinics. It is an sps tank primarily. 90 gallon- 48 ". I read this setup is equivelant to 250w of metal halide which won't work for me if that is the case. I would like to stop runnning my 1/4 hp chiller and my electric bill through the roof. Maybe that was the smaller unit. How was coraline and coral growth? Did you have SPS? Please tell me a bit more about the performance and what you saw. If you don't want to ship it my family is in Saginaw and we can setup for you to deliver or whatever works. Please tell me more. Thanks, Phil

I like the idea of the solaris, but don't see it as having the penetrating power of MH's. The website states 18inches of penetration.

my fixture will not compete with your current light of course - the coraline growth was unnoticable difference from my previous 2 times 250 watt 20k xm fixture and my two acros and orange monti which were 10 inches from the top water level showed growth under the solaris but I would need more time to see about growth. The beam is not as wide front to back as my previous fixture so my glass is not getting covered with algae at the same rate - my tank is 24 from front to back

do you run any fans? - I have a fan that sweeps wind across the top of my tank that comes on when the water temp gets 79.8 and this really slows down further heat buildup so my chiller does not come on as fast, as much, or for as long - this is talking of course about the metal halide fixture I have
one plus is that this fixture (solaris) is perfect beam-wise for an 18 inch tank - as far as penetration I agree - for SPS keep them 18 inch or higher

notice on the site they compare this solaris to 250 watt yes - but 20k which sometimes is not enough light for many SPS'ers - but I do agree that it is putting out as much useable light or more than that comparison - I agree with them on that point

Its a nice fixture

ps - look at my gallery - for recent pics of my tank - there are a couple of acros

let me see a picture of your 1,000 watt 90 gallon!
