I'm thinking about pulling my zebra eel and russells lionfish out of my 125g reef, and putting them in a tank that is 48x18x18. I know that tank will be fine for eel but I'm not sure about the lionfish, what do you guys think? Or should I just buy a 75g tank?
I don't think the tank would be fine for any of them. At a max length of 5', the Eel will definitely be too big for this size tank. And the Lion, at a max length of about 10-11", that too will quickly outgrow this tank.
I've had my zebra moray over 8 years, and it is somewhere between 3.5 and 4 feet long (hard to tell, I almost never see all of it out). It does fine in my tank 5' 120.
This will be a permanent home. I think the eel will be fine, it is currently around 28" in length. I was concerned about the hieght of the tank and the russells lionfish.
