I'm due to begin my upgrade soon and thought i would put up a list of the fish i'm thinking of putting in it.

pair of occilaris clowns
pair of carpenters wrasse
pair of eibli angels
pair of majestic angels
banana/canary wrasse
yellow spotted boxfish

maybe some anthias(?) 5 dispars or something?

i know the majestics and the boxfish are gambling in reef aquariums and that they will eventually outgrow the tank. the boxfish is currently the size of a 10c piece and i will endevour to try to get the majestics at 3-4" so that there will be a while before they outgrow.

is this too ambitious?

In my opinion, in your planned tank, it is not realistic. Please buy fish for the aquarium you have that can live long lives in that tank rather than hoping to find them homes later in your hoped additional upgrade or elsewhere.

+1 on this. I have the same tank, and I want an orange shoulder tang and a pair of bannerfish, but I won't put anything in that will get bigger than the yellow tang thats in it now.

Also, that yellow tang will not be welcoming to newcomers. :(

i would have thought a yellow would get too big(8") for a 4x2.

what would be the largest show piece sort of fish i could put in this tank then?

Actually, he's okay with most anything I put in, other than other tangs. He always postures here and there towards my indifferent spotfin jawfish, but he's ok otherwise.
