54 Corner Stand and Canopy

Well after 3 full weekends of work I fnally finished the stand and canopy. I still need to stain it, but that won't take long I hope.

I had to use ribs made of 3/4" plywood for all the curves and cutting them all out and sanding them smooth took forever. I used 1/4" oak plywood for the skin. I didn't have a steamer at first, so I used an iron to steam the wood to bend it. My dad was helping me build it and decided to buy a steamer to make it easier.

Let me know what you guys think. I know some other people wanted to get corner tanks or already have them and had problems designing the canopy so I tought I would post this and some pics.

Wow, looks great!

I just bought a 54 corner and was bummed that I couldn't find a canopy to go with the stand.

If I do decide to build a canopy, I'll probably have a ton of questions for you...

Thanks everyone for the great feedback.

Roushracer - No problem, I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Nice work there. I guess the next step is to stain the canopy and stand the same color as the trim?

Hey can I get the Product info for that stain I get asked that alot from those building there own stands. Would love to be able to pass that on.

The stain came from a cabinet manufacturer. When I remodeled our kitchen, I ordered the cabinets and a gallon of matching stain so I could get the skylight trim and baseboards to match the cabinets. It turns out that the stain color is identical to the AGA oak. I guess you would need to order it from Home Depot's cabinet manufacturer. I'll try and get the exact name tonight when I begin staining.
