My 55gal set up has been taken down, and I am putting the whole tank and closed loop system up for sale. I would like to try and sell this as a complete setup, since minus the lighting, that is exactly what it is. You could literally take it home, add your lights, and start the system up.
The asking price is $225, and for that you get:
55gal AGA RR Tank, Black Trim.The tank is in very good condition. I don't think there are any scratches.
55gal Modern Black Stand. This stand is in very good condition.
AquaC Urchin Protein Skimmer. This protein skimmer has worked wonderfully for me over the two years. It comes with the drain fitting and MaxiJet upgrades.
Custom Acryllic Sump Yes, this is a custom acrylic sump that actually fits inside a 55gal stand. It is near impossible to fit any commercial sump in a 55gal stand. It is made from 1/4-in. acrylic, and has a 3/4-in. bulkhead fitting in one side. The sump is in excellent condition. This was expensive.
Supreme Mag Drive 3. This was the return pump for the system and it has worked flawlessly.
AGA Overflow Kit All the AGA overflow plumbing and accessories (i.e., the foam block) comes with the setup. Plumbing from the tank to the sump and back from the return pump to the tank is included. Some of the tubing is flexible to isolate vibrations, and some of the tubing is rigid PVC with occasional unions and threaded fittings to facilitate disassembly. The drain line is 1-in. in diameter, and features a 1-in. HD ball valve for isolation of the sump from tank drainage. The return line is 3/4-in. and includes a 3/4-in. HD ball valve for throttling flow.
External Closed LoopThe set up includes an external, four-discharge point closed loop. This includes four directional U-tubes, along with all the plumbing down to an external pump located in the sump. A clear check valve is provided on the closed loop discharge line to prevent backflow and siphoning. The closed loop consists of a combination of rigid piping and flexible tubing. A 1-in. suction line is also included, and painted black to be concealed in the tank. It consists of a custom perforated DIY suction strainer (holes neatly and orderly drilled in a PVC pipe), a clear check valve so the suction does not break if power should fail, and a threaded cap for easy filling the first time. Threaded unions and ball valves, along with drainage points, are provided in botht he closed loop suction and discharge lines.
Closed Loop Pump. A QuietOne 3000 External closed loop pump is provided. The water seal has worked very well for me, and I have had no leaking. Sometimes, you have to turn it off and on a couple times to stop a rattling that occurs on start-up, but once you do that, all you do is let it run continuously and it really is very quiet. The manufacturer said a new impeller would solve that problem, but I never went through the bother because I never turned the closed loop off.
