55G drums

I found some food grade drums locally for a good price, I think. Will these be usable for RO and SW storage?

If I do store salt water in one what would I need to do? Just keep it covered or keep a power head in it.

I only have a 30G and a 10G tank. I do about 25G of water a week to every two weeks depending on how the tank is doing. So a 55G drum could hold the salt water for up to a month. Will the water stay good that long.

If these drums are usable is there anything I need to do to sterilize or clean them?

Check marine solutions. I think they have them a couple bucks cheaper but I don't recall how much people were paying.

I had no idea they had them. Even if they are a few dollars more it would be worth going to MS since I live in St. Charles and Telegraph is quite a hike for me.

Any thoughts on the length of time I can store salt water in a container and how best to go about it?

I called ms about a week ago ... day before the seasl meeting and they said they didnt have anymore....

I''ve had a Brute full for a couple weeks or more. I keep a MaxiJet and heater in it so it stays aerated and the proper temperature. Keep it covered.

if you live in St. Charles go to Hoods, you could probaly get two of them for the price in the link you listed and they are food grade.

I bought a pair of 55 gallon drums from Marine Solutions. $15.00 each. Had them since Oct of last year...almost a year. Work fine...call MS on a regular basis and ask them if they have them in...save yourself shipping.

If Hoods has them and their clean thats a bonus too.
