55g stand question

I am upgrading my fuge to a 55gal and a dumb question for the structural engineering types out there. I am looking to slap together a simple stand which doesn't have to have any aesthetics. Actually, I was just thinking of placing it on cinder blocks propped under each end like so:

However, I want to make sure I am not puting to much stress on the glass. Does the tank need to be supported all around the egde or would it work this way?

I dont know the lenght of the fuge but I would put another block in the middle and use plywood under the tank.
