6 Tangs in a 65 Gallon

Is this OK? My LFS said that 6 yellow tangs could be the absolute max, although I hear here that you should not even keep 1 unless your tank is over 100 Gallons. Any insight here would be grealy appreciated.

Your LFS is just trying to sell you fish so they will die and you will blame yourself and buy more. One small yellow, kole, or tomini would be the max.

6 tangs in a 65, your LFS obviously hasn't a clue then. Geezzz..

You know what the best thing you can do is? Look up the animals you want (be it a tang or other fish), look on a good website like fishbase.org or book. See how large the fish gets and if you can meet it's individual needs, and your own moral standing. It's not much more complicated then that.

Agree... Either tell them to come to RC and learn something or find a better lfs. No tang should be in a 65 gallon tank because its 3 foot long.

Yea, I wouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t shop there because they will keep doing this. If it was an employee, I would take it up with the owner, he may not know that this is the kind of advice they are giving. Sometimes they have people in the fish room that donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have a clue. Itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s not like you have to be a marine biologist to get a job bagging fish.

If a lfs says you can keep 6 tangs in 65 you need to stop going there or just stop listening to them.
