I have three burnt 6105's!!! First one burnt about 3 months ago..Then there were 2, last night I spent 2 hours cleaning them, plugged everything back in this morning [very carefully] , the first pump would not power up, leaving me with one..... About 30 min.later I smell burning plastic, sure enough the last one burnrd up!! Now my 150 gal. custom sps tank dominated by acropora, has 0 powerheads leaving my corals to die!!!! I am shocked by the poor quality of Tunze:(

I am in the aquarium service industry, and give consumers a great deal of advise when it comes to equipment, and at this point I will be not be reccomending any of you're products!! I will have to share my personal exp. which is bad.

I have had great luck with tunze, they even replaced an impeller for me on a wavemaker that I got used. It did take a couple of days to get in touch with the service guy who was out of town. I'd give them till a week day to respond. IMHO good luck though, hope they can help those are not cheep pumps!

I've read a lot on Tunze pumps and this is the very first time I've heard of this type of problem. All of them going out at the same time for the same issue seems weird though. I would be looking at everything else around the tank as well. Good Luck!

I have had wonderfull luck with my 4-6105's yes one quit it was the power supply and it had the smell of burning plastic, but the problem was my fault some saltwater from in unknown leak is what cooked the powersupply it only takes a few drops. Did you check for any leaks where you have your powersupplies at? Do you have drip loops in all of equiptment cords?

As for Roger and the rest of the tech support staff. They have always bent over backwards to help. They even sent me my powersupply on a day they were closed for inventory. Roger does monitor this forum through out the week and I would bet my my last dollar you will have a response Monday.

Are you not the same person that posted a simular complaint in another forum as well? If you are did you not state those pumps were in the 3 - 5 year range?

You can see in my album the set up. everything is mounted up on the back wall away from water.
they worked great for about 4-5 yrs. one died a couple months ago,it burned, then today one turned back on after cleaning then died, it didnt burn. Then the second pump today burned like the first one did months ago.
It is really odd I had them for 5 yrs I cleaned them many, many times, the same way, vin. bath, and plugged them back in the same way, all of the sudden they went haywire.
I have a lot of other equ. hooked up and I am very technical, so I do not think it is something that I did. I feel like it is a great pump but has some issues, and I also think that they fell apart internally some how [heat]? I don't know, humidity? I can't figure it out.

Did you contact Roger and company before you posted this message? Did they ignore you? Three 6105s at once? Sorry I have to say this, Bullshit......
