i am new to the whole saltwater tanks. i have a 75 gallon that i am going to make a reef tank and was woundering what i have to add to my tank for my tank to thrive. what test kits should i get.

First a good skimmer, then lighting, then the livestock. Also a good test kit is the Elos test kit (it is expensive but really good) and buy it at marinedepot.com.

we've learnt to get all of your equiptment before you fill your tank. or else it will cause you lots of stress and you will need to empty your pockets quickly

that's a fact! i set up a new 65g this weekend and had to make an emergency homedepot run for some fittings. think i had money after buying the tank? NOO, much less if i would have bought all the equipment to go with it at the same time. it would have set with water in it for a week. haha can't do without beer and ciggs.
