I had writing this before and after 30 years of this I still like to here others for common concerns.
Couple weeks ago I noticed salt creep and a wet corner right front, left front, and back left corner. No water in cabinet just around edges of wood and hardwood floor. Hit with fans dried out right side then left front. However, can't dry the back left corner wood is wet. Thirty years in this hobby and never had a seal leak. Currently the tank is a 15 year old150g Oceanic. Back left corner, fans running to keep wicked off. So my spouse understanding this is my hobby convinced me to keep going. I convinced her bigger is better and it will hide the hardwood floor damage. My new 210g tank is in the garage waiting for the stand...hurry. We plan to break down and rebuild in 3-4 hours when all is here and ready hopefully within 2weeks. Curious I live in Wisconsin temps outside around 30's - 45. I want to paint the back of the tank.... Will temps hinder this progress or should I wait till it is set up? I can get a long stick roller behind when set up. Any issues of painting when set up. Pics to come.
I have been dealing with this leak for a month now. Fans running to wick off water from towels, salt drip..... keeping fingers crossed. The stand arrives Tuesday and we plan the transfer from 150 to new 210 on Friday next week. So to the question;
I use 32gal Brute Food Safe containers for fresh and saltwater making and storage. During the transfer of water out and back in to new tank, are standard clean trash cans ok for maybe 3-4 hours of storage then pumped into new tank?
Thoughts?
