I have the bug again, and am starting to plan my next upgrade. I am looking to build a acrylic tank 7 or 8 feet long 24" wide and 16"-18" high. I am not sure if I should do 7' or 8' for the length.

the longer the better...mine is 7' long..30" wide..& 24" tall...if i could...id go longer & wider...maybe next time

Well the sheets come in just a little bit over 8 feet in length. You might as well use it it up. :-)

Also look at what you plan on doing for lighting. If you're going to go all DIY, then it doesn't matter, but if you're buying something that's put together, you'll have more options at 4' (get two) than at 7'.

I went 10 long 4 ft deep and 24'' high for me there is nothing like a deep tank, i love the looks of them

yeah I was thinking that it should be easier for a 8' tank less cutting involved. I have a 48" tek light t-5 and I am debating buying another one or going MH. I already have a chiller so heat will not be a issue.

Was that a mis-print? Only 16 to 18 inches high.
