that's an asternia starfish - it's "reef safe" - but they eat coraline algae. You'll have purple with white polka-dots where they chomped down on your coraline. If you get too many of them, a harlequin shrimp will wipe them out. My tank was over ran with them once - that lil shrimp took care of them all.
WOOHOO I got all my rock thanks too John Kelly. Here it is, cloudy from moving rock around, I had it all stacked and the fiance' said it looked bad so she re-did it all and it looks good.
Just for kicks here is a hermit taking over the shell of a poor snail :lmao:
Ok, We pulled out everything in the 55, took the blue tang and puffer to the local shop. The clown fish and royal gramma went into the 75 with a sailfin tang. The 55 is empty except for cleaner stuff and a diamond goby from my nano cube. Eventually I plan to catch the scooter blenny and the seahorses in my nano and move them to the 55 gallon. Then the 55 will be a seahorse tank with soft corals. The 75 will be my main reef tank. The nano-cube will be sold soon. I will also be selling a 25 Watt UV sterilizer soon also. Here are pics of the 55 and 75.
I did lower them, a whole lot, Don't they look lower in my most recent pic? The seahorses are in the 55 now, along with the blenny and fake coral. So the nano is for sale, if it doesn't sell, it may be a frag tank eventually.
