75 gallon up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ya the best part of the tank was the price lol 200 for rock sand and everything this person had easly 3000 k worth of stuff so good pick up but now more money for lighting is wat i need to spend on

I'd like to talk you out of power compacts, though mine will be for sale in a week or two.

You'll end up changing bulbs about every 6 months, you'll notice the corals not expanding or growing like they were......and the bulbs aren't cheap!!!:mad2:

I don't have experience with MH, though I do have a ballast (200w) and base I may use on my 45 gal. frag tank if I ever get that running.

I'm changing over to t5's (two at a time) retro fit.

The first two I put in were the ATI Aquablue +.......they out shine all 4x65 pc :eek1:

There's more polyp extension and colors are awesome.
I can hardly wait for the next two.

I have to agree that pc are not the way to go. I just got a TEK t5 fixture and I'm very happy with it. Theres a great T5 Q&A thread on here you might wanna check out.

Yes.........great thread...........thats what made me decide to go t5's. Some full tank pic's posted in the thread some where of thier lights. Great color!

If you look at per watt price, MH is just as cheap as PC, and a ton more effective. They both have the unfortunate heat aspect, so I see no excuse to EVER use PC unless all you want is low light zoas and green star. T-5 seems to be the latest and greatest, and although I'm very happy with my MH, and will probably stay with it indefinately, if I were starting from scratch, t-5 would have to at least be a consideration.

Did you rinse the sand before you put it in? What type of sand did you use?

I usually let 3 days for the cloudiness to clear. You can speed up the process by using 50 micron pads. Or next time put the sand in first and put the water in carefully. The only downside to that is when you stir up your sand just a little some cloudiness will come up.
