I aquired a used 75 RR that I will be seting up in the near future and am in the planning stages.
Lighting: I plan on MH, will 175w work or should I up to 250w? I read that the Iwasaki 15k bulbs put out as much or more par than most 250w bulbs. Has anyone used these, do you like the color (I'm looking for a white to a slight blueish look). I might suppliment with antinics. I already have a 175 I'm using on my 30g tank 15" tall so I'll at least use that on one side but what I use on the other side is the question. I do plan on having some SPS but it won't be an SPS dominated tank.
Flow: Use my Mag9.5 for the return and then two maxijet mods.
The stand: I'm working on a design and I ran across a statement that a glass tank only needs to be supported at the corners; and this sorta makes sense as the glass walls of the tank are not going to bend at all so why do you need to support the full length beneth all the walls? Where this comes in, is I was originally planning on having a vertical support (2x4) at the midpoint, but if its not really needed then why should I bother as access to the sump would be easier. (Or at least make it removable, I'll probably want something there for the doors to close against) Any opinions?
Any comments/suggestions/help at all are appricated.
