75G Tank Build

So as many of you know I am now in the process of upgrading my current 37G system.

Right now I have everything in my basement calling my name. But first before I could even touch the tank .....I had to finish painting the babies room. Our lil' baby is expected in January and yes it did have priority over my new tank :D

So my plan for the tank is to actually have a sump! Wahoo.....yea I know sometimes it is the simple things that excite me
The sump is a 29g tank....complete with mirrored sides (thanks Ken) The mirrors have no practical use on a sump the tank was originally a Prop tank. The chamber where the water enters the sump will have rock rubble and probably a bag of carbon.

As you can see the refugium is plenty big enough

After 3 baffles it's off to the return chamber where I will actually have an auto top off.

I Have a new AGA "Modern" stand with plenty of space under it for the 29g sump

For the back of the tank I won't paint it. On all of my tanks I use an adhesive Sign Grade Vinyl. In this case I used black.

Finished....No bubbles either :)

I had to photoshop all the wifes crap that was in the photo

And here it all is currently.....Now to tackle the plumbing. I'll update the thread when I get furthur.

Nice Joe.

Where you gonna hang the Deltec....tank or sump?

Are you sure you're working on the babies room?!? :D

Looks great so far Joe. You had to do some painting to, I'm trying to get the living room and dinnning rooms done before the tank project gets done., Kind of working on them at the same time as well.

Joe, love the stand. Im looking to upgrade to a 90 or 120, and like the look of the "Modern" Stand. Can you tell me where you got it? Did you have the option for a canopy? How is the vinyl working out? Debating on painting, vinyl seems like it would be easier, where did you get the vinyl?

I like the black on the back, makes me think if I should have gone with black instead of blue!. GL getting it all together, looks real nice so far!

NOW GO FINISH THE BABY'S ROOM!! so you can get the tank done!

Joe,

Defiently looking good !!!

Black or Blue, you cant go wrong, in 6 months, its all covered by coraline algae anways :)

Looks good Joe. I like the fuge/sump setup, kinda wish I did mine that way too. Vinyl is nice also, thats what I used. Its easy and stays nice and clean looking. Goes on just like window tint. It does pull off semi easy as they claim too, I just peeled it from my old tank by hand pretty easily with no residue left behind. I got mine from this website xxxbadfishxxx.......

BTW They are a NY based company and ship pretty fast.

I bought the tank and stand from Tony at swamp bottom. It also has a matching canopy...im just not sure if ill go that route. As for the sign vinyl.....I run a Part time sign Biz and I have tons of it  Any color....if you want some ill sell ya some cheap...my cost :D

And Ken,
Yea ya sold it to Kris and he sold it to me :D

Nope he got a good deal;) I'm nice like that.

I happened to get another 29 gal the next day after i got yours Ken. I didn't need two so i sold it.

Thanks for the link winkey.

Yeah, i might be interested in black vinyl within the next 3 weeks. I will PM you when i get back this weekend. I like the stand a lot, but its super expensive. Im gonna have to save for a little while.

Just a quick update........
I finished the plumbing and moved the tank and stand upstairs to its final resting spot. I have mixed all the water and added sand too. At the moment I have a little milk shake

I also ordered my new 48" T5 fixture wahoooo! I hope to have it sometime in the begining of this coming week.

Ill snap some more pictures and post them tomorrow :)
