8 inch teardrop mantle seems to be receding any advice?

Hello everyone,

Recently I've been noticing my 8 inch teardrop's mantle receding. Only some parts of the mantle is receding and it looks all wrinkled. I am wondering what could be the cause of this? I know it is not pm and I have had the receding issue before but usually after a while it goes back to normal. Could it be a result of not having enough calcium in the water? Or maybe I have to dose phyto? It's such a big clam that I didn't think it would need to be fed. I have 400w lighting so I thought that was enough as well. Would a bulb replacment fix the problem(had the bulb for almost a yr now). I really don't want this clam to die since i've had it for a long time and it is such a large clam. Any help would be appreciated.

Flow is medium. thing is there's 4 clams around the 8 incher and their mantles are not receding. So I'm assuming it's not flow.

i'll try to post one tonight if not it'll have to be this weekend since the dig cam might be out of town.

Here's a pic of the clam that I was talking about. Notice the receding mantle on the right side mostly and a little on the upper left side. What do you guys think caused it?

Hey mbbuna,

So you think it's pm? Or some other infection? As you remember I had pm with a bunch of my clams before but these are a new batch. And the receding mantle does like look pinched. I'm just wondering what it is but a freswater dip sounds good to me.

from the pic it doesn't look like PM(PM is still an unknown as far as what type of protozoan or even more then one type) but a FWD can be effective for many different eratents(sp.)
