90 Gallon Stocking Ideas

This is going to be a quick post, but I want to throw out some ideas and a general list of "neat fish that I like" My tank is a standard 90 with 30 gallon sump, live rock, and an oversized, efficient skimmer.

I'm hoping to gather some insight and suggestions regarding my ideas.

Fish that MUST be in this tank:

-Pair of Saddleback Clowns (the only fish I own at the moment, coming from a smaller setup)

Fish that I like/am considering:

-Dwarf Angel (not sure on which yet.. there's a pair of Flames that I am looking at, but I've also wanted a Potters or Flameback)
-Ribbon or Zebra Eel (not looking for any other type, am aware RE: feeding difficulties with Ribbon and size of Zebra)
-Smaller Tang species, like a Kole or Yellow
-Toby Puffer/possible Dog Faced
-Flame Hawk
-Blennies/Gobies
-Cardinals or a shoaling species of fish
-Trigger of some sort.. not too aggressive or large (would have to be something on the opposite end to, say an undulate)
-Harlequin Tusk
-Hearty Butterfly of some sort

Again, not going to add ALL of these fish, but I'm INTERESTED in them. Please don't say things like "that's going to be WAY overloaded".. I'm aware of this, and not looking to add every fish.. just listing them for ideas :)

if you want a smaller and less aggressive trigger don't go with a Undy. I'd go with a Humu Picasso, they are still aggressive but not as aggressive as an undy. I've also heard that undys are very shy i hope that i could help... but don't just trust me because i haven't and first hand experience with triggers but i'm also wanting one so i've been doing a lot of research lately...

-- Sounds good. Anemone as well?

A pair of Flames would be a special touch, but Flames can get aggressive, so they would need to be matched carefully with their other tankmates. They could definitely be the "showpiece" fishes of the tank though!

-Ribbon or Zebra Eel (not looking for any other type, am aware RE: feeding difficulties with Ribbon and size of Zebra)

Can't comment on the eels, but I think that you will find the tangs will outgrow a 90 within a couple years (assuming they are bought very small). I have both types currently, and the Kole tang is definitely more lower key (mellow).

-Toby Puffer/possible Dog Faced
-Flame Hawk
-Blennies/Gobies
-Cardinals or a shoaling species of fish

All excellent choices for this size tank.

-Trigger of some sort.. not too aggressive or large (would have to be something on the opposite end to, say an undulate)
Filefish would be a similar, smaller version suitable for this size tank. Any trigger is going to outgrow the tank, some within one year, others (small Picasso perhaps) may give you two years or so.

-Harlequin Tusk
Same thing....time to start planning your upgrade now. :)

-Hearty Butterfly of some sort
An oxymoron if I ever heard one (saving except for the Raccoon Butterfly perhaps). Wouldn't mix this with aggressive tankmates.

Sounds like you have some good ideas. My suggestion (through hard earned experience) is not to purchase fish under the assumption you will be able to upgrade in time.
