90gal up!/Looking for frags

Hey everyone just wanted to let you know the change from the 55gal to the 90gal went along great. Many thanks to Chris who came over from 3-to nearly 6 to help me with it. It would have taken me a lot longer by myself, especially carrying water and LR down the stairs haha. Also it was a lot easier with someone telling me how the equipment. So thanks again! and for the sand too and all those containers and such.

And now that I am in a bigger tank Im looking for coral frags and such to buy. I don't have much to trade, I did buy a rather colt coral I could trim if you'd rather trade then sell. I am looking mainly for Softies and LPS and Zoos. I went to william greenbanks and I am not fond of how he told me one price for a coral and then decided to raise it about $20 on me saying he was getting ripped off for selling it for $65. It was a rock with 5red mushrooms and about 50 various zoo polyps. But I wasn't going to buy that anyway, I may be cheap but, that seemed a bit expensive.

So yeah looking for some frags, if you have any that you are willing to sell let me know please

I've got some large dead coral pieces you could mix in with your LR if you'd like Chris? I use it as a 50/50 mix with my LR to offset the cost. It's all clean and ready to go.

No trade needed Chris . I'll just see if i can find some odds and ends to add to your collection. kind of a frag pot luck.. lets see, you have dual MH 14k's? good lighting!! , better than mine. I can break off some easy to grow acro frags too that should do well. it takes a while to fill out a 90. just keep collecting bits and pieces and soon it will be a well landscaped garden. most of my stuff comes from bits and broken pieces I've rescued in LFS tanks or TFP's old dead and dying coral tank. anything there 5 bucks. many survived and thrived.

It's taken me over a year and a half now to fill up my 90 to the point where it's looking pretty good. Ken gave me his stamp of approval lol.
Ken, Jim and Jay have been instrumental into really bringing it to life for me with frags and advice. Patience and careful selection go a long way too.
If you have any set backs, note it but move forward.

Hey, I'm kind of new at this, but if you want I have some pieces of a yellow Gorgonian to get rid of. I have to much and my gobys keep burying pieces. Not sure if it would work well with your tank, it requires some good food. Let me know.

thanks WDS , you have added a lot of stuff since the first bits and pieces i gave you. Your tank in looking good!!. I like the extra free water space your 90 has. my 75 is getting too crowded to the top. some corals are growing out of the water. might be time to tear it down and redecorate sometime. or maybe a larger tank.
hey Gordo, yellow gorGonians are good . I believe yellows are photosynthetic and filter feeders too. not too hard to keep. just as long as water is clean enough to not grow algea on them.and with good water flow, they thrive. should do good in RBTA's new tank.

Gordonious, I would love to have a gorgonian frag haha, been looking for one for awhile but didn't have too much luck at any place besides online. Do you want anything for a piece of it?

I don't trust my tank chemistry, I will be adding a sump and one or two more displays in the next couple of weeks, and I am still new so I am not sure what I would like to have in my small tanks yet. Short answer no, but let me know how I can get it to you. (PM me)

I wanted to build the back of it up like yours Ken but maybe I'd be better off leaving that open space for growth?
The only thing I have that would grow upwards are my Kenya trees, compliments of Mike.
Most everything else should grow horizontally.
Still, that open area is also nice for water flow too.

Its looking good dave. it will fill up soon enough, they you will be looking for a 180 like mbbuna. rock sloped up to the back means you need some power heads behind the rock to prevent dead flow spots, and you cant clean. that rock hasnt moved in 8 years now. but there is lots of openings and free space in it to give the fishies lots of routes to swim in and out of the rock wall. its a porous structure.

I have a decent sized capnella frag I can donate to the cause if you're interested. I can help you out with some montipora frags after stuff recovers from the tank overheating. (Got my AC fixed today !YEAH!)

Ah capnella another coral I've been wanting to have haha. I guess I need to make quite a few colt frags to repay you all haha. Congratz on getting the AC fixed, it must feel so much better with it running.

My 18 year old,SEER 7 unit took a dump on memorial day weekend. when it first got hot... but june was cool so i got to spend a month shopping for a new and more effiecient system. got a much better SEER 13 unit, installed just in time for the july heat wave. but look out. here comes the bill..

but I'm cool...

oh well, small price to pay for saving the reefs. better units use less energy and cause less green house gases that warm the earth and hurt the reefs.

It's just my turn to pay.
