a cheaper alternatice to buing IC-GEL

Hey folks I was at Michaels the other day and I was looking for some crazyglue gel. I did find the regular as I looked around some more I found a aquagreen tube of glue. I read the back and found out that its the same thing as the gel type but its cost alot less and you get alot more. I also looked into the IC-Gel type glue and found out that its the same thing. Not only that but ist only $3.00 for a .70oz(20g) of glue. Same size at the IC-GEL tube. Talk about saving a few bucks. I was paing 2.99 for a .4 oz tube at HD. The name of the glue is called Jewelry & Metal Glue made for Aleene's by Duncancrafts. Hope this help some of you.

Sweet! Will this stuff burn sps frags when glued? I heard some glues can get really hot when they bond?

I was looking for some crosstiching paterns for my crosstiching club:lol2: j/k. Afther I left Jeffs I remembered that I did not have any glue for the stuff I bough so instead of driving down to HD I figured I check and see if they had any glue there. I also recalled Gabe saing something about getting IC-GEL at hobby shops so I thought I check them out.


My F1sh R D34D!: I dont thing it does cuase its the same thing as IC-GEL and crazy glue gel. Just in a diffrent package thats all.

they are all made of the same thing but they dont all work the same.. Superglue gel really sucks compared to IC gel. Have you tried the new stuff? IC gel bonds underwater in 5 sec.. does this glue do the same thing?

Not sure what you meen underwater but I always take the frags and put glue on them and stick them to the rock inside the tank. Do you meen stick the whole tube of gel in the tank and use it under water? if that is what you meen then no I have not, I need to try and see if that works.

lol.. no get the frag put glue on the base and plant it underwater.. some people dry the frag and LR where the frag is being planted...

Oh yeah if thats the case then the aswer is YES it does work. I normaly use a little putty to glue them since I have some lrg bulldozer snails and crabs in my tank. Hey Gabe what does the IC-GEL tube say it has inside? I went to IBS site but all it said was a cyanoacrylate. I want to see if it has something else in it.

I got a couple of tubes of the IC gel from Gabe. It says it contains ethyl cyanoacrylate. I also got some of the Aleene's Platinum Bond super gel from Micheal's...and it says it has the same thing too.

What I noticed is that the IC gel sets up much faster than the regular super glue gel (even though it says it's an instant adhesive). I was able to mount larger frags (with less fuss) with the ic gel that wasn't possible with the regular super glue gel.

If you get the Sunday LA Times, there is usually a Michael's circular with a 40% coupon in it....

What's wrong with gluing underwater?
That's what I do, as the gels I've tried always skin over too quickly: by the time I get the fragg in place, it will not longer stick to the rock. So now, I hold the frag right next to the location and just shove the whole tube into position and squeeze a shot. Works great. When I bring the tube out, I just wipe off the skinned over tip with a rag and its good to go for next time.
