A couple new shots with my 105 nikkor

I'm still working with the white balance and the RAW format but it's slowly coming along. Also I need to play more with the f stop and find out what works well in specific situations. I am open to all advice and criticism!

that chalice is killer!

looks like you took the pic of it at a small depth of field (f/6.3) and an ISO of 800.

not sure if you are using a tripod or not......but use a tripod, bump up your fstop to somewhere b/w f/9 and f/13 so we can get a better look of the entire coral (more depth of field). and drop that ISO back down to zero.

not sure if the nikon's have an aperture priority mode....but thats what you need to be in so the camera will automatically set the shutter speed once you set the aperture and ISO manually.

I was intentionally going for the small DOF with these shots since I just got the 105mm f2.8 lens. I am using a tripod & remote shutter release. The ISO was set at auto so I will change that and get it lower to help remove some of the noise. Also, the next set I do I will play with the f stop between 11 - 20 and try and get a feel for the DOF. The D200 has a program mode, aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual.

I'll keep playing and post good shots as I get them!
