The TBS crew went diving on Sunday and Dan was kind enough to send out the second part of my shipment on Memorial Day. It has only been eight days since Part 1 and I have been at 0 ammonia and under .5 nitrite for about three days prior to ordering. It amazes me that I cycled in five days, although I'll admit that I had helped it by putting a bottle of nitrifying bacteria in the tank about a week prior to ordering Part 1.
I also want to pass along that I only lost pieces of a couple sea squirts and a few sponges from the Part 1 rock. In fact, I had a few tunicates actually showing signs of growth.
Part 2 arrived packaged just as well as Part 1 with 60# of rock, two very nice gorgonians, an assortment of sponges, peppermint shrimp, sea cukes, more hermit crabs than I've ever seen before, and snails. TBS also threw in two decorator crabs, which I very much appreciate - they are very cool little critters. The gorgonians had their polyps extended in a few hours, but unfortunately, I have a lot of gray showing up on the sponges from trying to get them to stay put. I hope they make it, although I have read they are hit and miss. I ordered Sponge Power from BRS to try to keep them fed.
I'm afraid I didn't take the time to document unboxing as I was having a hard time trying to re-aquascape what I thought was a pretty good looking display from the first shipment.
Here are a few pictures of the end result (my apologies on the focus of some of these pics):
