A little puzzled

So there is a dude on nano-reef that claims the following:

"I got a 2 1/2-3 inch crocea & put it in my 2 gallon pico. lived there under 13W PC for 3 months till I upgraded to a 10G with 96W PC, Lived there for almost a year. Till I upgraded again to a 20H with MH lights.

2 years and this clam is still kickin biggrin.gif slap in the face to all who said Crocea's cant be kept in PC's or nanos. I think 2 years is long enough to say NANANANAAANNNAAA"

Is it possible that Croceas can GROW in a 2 gallon under a 13 watt?

yes thats me, but i was planning on something else other than a croc or maxima.

think about the distance from the bulbs. in a 2g pico the clam would be directly under the bulbs. very little light loss due to water penetration. you can pretty much keep anything alive under flourescents if the tank is only 8" deep.

I would say keeping clams in tanks that small is tough due to maintaining suitable and STABLE water conditions. In a tank that small a little evaporation significantly swings salinity. A little metabolic pollutant severly impairs wtare quality, etc etc etc.

If you have been successful, good for you, you obviously take good care of your tank. In general, though, I would strongly suggest against it, especially with bigger animals like clams.
