A question About Ich

I posted this in the disease forum and had no responses so I thought I would try here.

I have two tangs in a quarantine tank that I have been treating for ich. I have been using hyposalinity method and it seemed to rid the fish of the ich. On one of the tangs throughout the treatment period it had one larger size white dot that will not go away. It is about the size of a pen tip. It is in the same spot and never did go away. In the last 2 weeks both of the tangs have these large dots all over them and the tank is still in hyposaline conditions. I have a couple of clownfish in with them and there is nothing on the clownfish.

Is this a different form of ich(hypo resistant variety) or some other parasite?
Do I need to treat with copper or try some other method?
The fish are eating well and are active.

Thanks for the help

If you can take and post some picture, it would help alot.

Look at the white dot, do you think you can remove them from the tangs ?

Could the white dot be ick ?...I think you should remove the clownfish and start dosing little copper to treat the tangs.

I looks like ich but the same white dot is in the same spot. Normally with ich the dots come and go. These just stay. It does not look like cauliflower. The tanks salinty is at 1.009. The original ich disappeared after I started treatment. There was origanlly just one now there are maybe 25. They seem much larger them usual ich cysts.

I will post a picture tomorrow night once I figure out how.

Thanks

Tom

I put a couple of pictures in my gallery. They are not the best quality but hopefully they will help.

They are raised. They protrude a good amount. They are bigger than a grain of salt out of a shaker. They are the size of the salt on a soft pretzel like you would get at a movie theater. They do not fall off either.

Thanks

Fish doesn't look "sick" at all, hans. It just has one spot on it. If you have a couple cleaner shimp in your display they should beable to easily remove that parasite. If you want to keep your fish in QT I fully understand. But that guy would be better off in a main tank where the cleaners could pick him clean. He looks healthy.

I dont think it is ICK it might be LYMPHO I cant tell from the pic also the Tang seems to have HLLE. If it is LYMPHO it is a viral disease usually diet, stress, and enviroment often casue this virus to come out. Give the tang some Nori and some enriched foods high in HUFA or even soak it in selco which is High in HUFA, in due time he will be a champ and very vibrant.

Thanks for the response. I believe it is lympho as well. I believe the hyposalinty brought it on. I left them in hypo longer because I originally thought the couple of dots that came back was ich but after they did not fall off I realized I have something Else. I have been raising the salinty up and am feeding him plenty of Nori and Rod's food. Hopefully this will heal him right up so he can go in his new tank.

Thanks for the help

Tom
