A question about my chaetomorpha

the top of my chaetomorpha turns yellow and brown, but underneath it is really bright green, do you think the top is getting burnt with too much light?

I have two of the LOA flood lights mounted on top of my 40 gallon fuge and the chaeto is about 6-8 inches below this.

thanks!

Too much light would be my guess. I had a similiar situation and tried 'submerging' the algae a bit more under the water surface with some coral rubble.

No more browning effect on the top portions. The lower sections are still a brighter green than the top though.

yea i would say its drying up...mine did this to...now i flip it
over every few days..or push some under the sand to hold it down..greg

i have mine under 65 watts...and a friend of mine
keeps his under a 13 watt...and it is that very bright
green all the way through...maybe the chato doesnt
need/like to much light...i wonder what depth it naturally grows?
does anyone know? Thanks Greg

Mine yellows in a few small places as well.
The brown is most likely an algae.
Look really close and pull some out.
