i was wondering what all goes on at the meetings??? and can i come check one out before i join???

Of course, stop by and check it out!
You don't need to be a member to show up.

The last meeting had Russel from Ocean Blend giving a whole discussion on the role and proper use of calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium in a reef tank.
(Basically the "two part solution")
It was very informative, and he was happy to answer all our questions during and after his presentation.

The meeting before last was a great demonstration on fragging different types of corals.
A couple of the members donated colonies of zoas, brain, and leather which was fragged in several different ways before being given away to anyone that wanted some.
I learned a ton about fragging without having to make all the usual learning mistakes on my own.

Of course, some would say the best part of the meetings is the silent auction that's held at the end of the night.
I've gotten some of my best (and cheapest) frags from the members' auctions.

the meetings are the third Tuesday of each month. this month is how to work with acrylic.

Fmas1955.org if you need more info

That's one thing the membership dues get used for, and if you ask me, over the course of a year, that alone is a bargain.
:)

Yes, snacks ! What more can you ask for than some education, some frags and snacks! We usually have some sodas, water, munchies (cookies, chips, etc.) for us to nosh on.

Come on by and check it out!

You hold up a numbered card to bid.
The only one talking is the auctioneer.

Until Chris says "going twice" and then everyone yells out "wait wait!" for another bidder. haha. It happens with EVERY item.
